Practical Scrappers: Paint

Howdy!  I'm switching gears from an inky card yesterday to painted layout today.  Practical Scrappers is featuring projects with paint.  There are some wonderful ideas over at the site.  When you are done here, you should go check them out.

Here is my project:

I used Tim Holtz paint in Iced Spruce and Bundled Sage (applied with a dry brush) to create the background on the right side of my page.  I love the "rough edges" the dry brush gives the paint.  I really like how the transparent arrows allow the painted background to show through.

The paper and many of the embellishments came from my August Gossamer Blue kit and the sketch is from ScrapbookSteals.com's Aquamarine 5 sketch.

Growing in Unity - Day 4

Wow!  I can't believe today is Day 4 of my Growing in Unity guest designer spot.  It has been such a fun week.

Today, how about a little summer fun?  I used to hate to fussy cut, but this little swim suit just called to be "hung out to dry".  I also fussy cut the swirl out of the Splash paper and added a little glitter shine to it.  Again, the sentiment is only part of the actual stamp that comes as part of this Itty Bitty set.  Coloring just the part of the stamp you want to use, even if it is just part of it, is a great way to find more uses for your stamps.

Growing in Unity - Day 2

As I was going through my stamps, I saw this little fairy and decided she needed to be used in one of my project. 



I used pop dots add some dimension to the card.  A few neon sequins added to the whimsical feel of the card.

Glitter, Glitter, Everywhere!!!

Last week, 2 Peas in a Bucket's Scrap Your Stash video challenged us to use the glitter in our stash.  Well, now I have glitter EVERYWHERE!!!  (As some of my friends like to say, I have Glitter Herpes. LOL!!!)  But I love the affect it added to my Spring Artist Trading Cards:

I think it added just that right amount of glitz to go with the adorable Stampin' Up Dress Up Framelit Dies.  I am totally in love with these dresses!  I can't look at these cards without sing "Fab-u-lous".  When I found the word in the Fabulous Phrases set (also from Stampin' Up), I knew it was meant to be.  The glitter is also Stampin' Up, from an older collection of glitter that has been in my stash for quite a while.

I always make a couple extra die cuts when I'm making ATC's - you never know when those little hands are going to come help themselves to one of your cuts - so I decided to make a card with an extra cut:

I needed something a little bright and springy on this dreary day here in St. Louis.  Echo Park's Country Drive 6x6 fit the bill!

If you have been a follower of my blog for a while, you know how much I love Scrapbook Steals.  They have some great deals on product, and I have met a lot of WONDERFUL crafty sistahs through their "community".  When Kerys' asked for someone to help fill in a spot on the February Blog Hop, I was happy to help out.  It was a bonus when she said we would be working with Prima Flowers for the hop.  Double Bonus - I received pink flowers to work with.  And I had the perfect picture in mind to work with.

This picture of my daughter was taken on Mother's Day last year.  I thought these flowers complimented her dress.

I used Echo Park's Holly Jolly Christmas papers to create this layout.  Hard to tell it is Christmas paper, huh!  But it isn't the paper that makes this layout for me, it is the cluster of green rose trim and pink hydrangea flowers weaved together to create the focal point in the lower corner of this layout.

Here is a little closer look at the cluster.  I started by adhering the green trim with Glue Dots and winding it around and adding more glue dots as I went.  I wish I had snapped a picture of just the green portion, but I was so excited about how it came out, that I just plain forgot!  ;-)  I layered two flowers together and put a yellow brad through the middle and used that to attach the flowers to the page.  I love how the green roses in the middle forced the pink flowers to close a little.  I also tucked a few Pebbles hat pins in the cluster for a little more "bling", because, what girl layout isn't complete without a little bling?!?

Finally I framed the layout and scattered a few more flowers in the bottom of the frame.  I was hoping I would have a little more gap between the layout and the frame's glass, so the flowers would "float" a little more behind the glass.  But I still like how they scattered out.
