SSI - Use Your Markers

Hi!

Hope everyone is staying warm (or cool depending on where you live) on this Tuesday morning.  Today on Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration, we are featuring cards made using our markers.

When I saw the Vivid Vases (Item #133818) in the Celebrate the Everyday catalog (the new Occasions catalog), I KNEW that I wanted use my markers to color it.  I used a variety of different colors on for the flowers, including a blender pen to soften the look of the water.

I love the look of white layered on white.  I wanted to add a little texture of the background of the card.  And don't you love this Textured Impressions Embossing Folder?  It is the Decorative Dots folder (Item #133520) from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  Did I mention I love all the goodies offered during Sale-A-Bration???

Guess what, Sale-A-Bration starts today!!!  If you aren't familiar with Sale-A-Bration, let me fill you in.  For every $50 in Stampin' Up products you order, you get your choice of items from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  Check out the fun stamp, punch, paper, and embellishments being offered!!!  You can order from my site at Stampin' Kristy.

Cheers!

SSI: Monochromatic Cards

We are half way through the week.  Wow!  What a week.  I've had fun being crafty...without little hands helping me along the way.  ;-)

Today on Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration, we are featuring Monochromatic cards.  I really love the monochromatic look.  I love how you can use different textures within the same color family to create beautiful looks.  Be sure you look at the website to get some other great ideas.

For my card, I stuck with Perfect Plum (#126963) for my color.  To get a color variant, I stamped it fresh from the ink pad, onto the paper.  Then I stamped again without going back to the ink (this is called stamping off).  And don't you just love that cork?!?  They are from the Sale-A-Bration catalog, along with the flower stamp set.  January 28th can't come soon enough!!!

Cheers!

SS Ink: Card Sketch

Happy Monday!

I hope this day finds you well.  We are getting back into our daily routines here - with the kids back at school and Mama back in the gym.  Now it feels like 2014 is starting.

Also starting is Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration's card sketch series for 2014.  On the second Monday of the month, we will be featuring a new sketch.  Be sure to check out the website and play along!  There are prizes to be won.

This month's sketch is a fun one, and open to so much interpretation (check out the SS Inkspiration blog and see what I mean!).

Here is my take on the card:

To make this card, I used some paper only available during Sale-A-Bration, beginning January 28th.  The stamp is from the Hip Notes set (#133504).

Do you like the little punches around the edge of the card?  Check back tomorrow to see more information about that!

Cheers!

Practical Scrappers: Scrap Your Stash Hop

Welcome to the first Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop by Practical Scrappers (a new monthly hop!)...

You should have come here from Christine Meyer's blog.  If you've lost your way, a complete list of blogs will be at the bottom of this post.  I hope you enjoy seeing how we used our stashes to create some fun stuff!  Make sure you hop all the way through.  Many of the girls are doing giveaways on their blogs, including the Practical Scrapper's home site (Kiwi Lane anyone?)!

I had fun raiding my stash of Project Life cards, little letters, and wooden elements to create the cover page for my 2014 Project Life book.  I vow I WILL keep up with my PL this year!!! I already have a layout in mind for Week 1!  ;-)

I used cards and elements from Studio Calico's Project Life kit, Becky Higgin's Midnight core kit, and Gossamer Blue's Life Pages kit, as well as some cards I had in my stash already.  The letters I used were from some Lily Bee and Webster Pages mystery boxes I ordered this year.  I used Gelatos to color the hearts on my "Our Life" card.

Thank you for visiting.  Hop on over to Erin Morehouse for your next stop.

Cheers!

I decided to do a scrapbook layout using items from the new Occasions Catalog.  I have to say, I LOVE the new catalog.  LOTS of new fun stuff to play with.  Without further ado, here is my layout:

Recipe:

  • Paper: Watercolor Wonder DSP (#132994), 2013-2015 In Color Core'Dinations (#129958), Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (#133363)
  • Stamps: Make Note This & That Rotary Stamp (#133370), Love You To The Moon (#133143)
  • Ink: Jet Black Stazon Pad (#101406)
  • Punch: Punch Pack (#118309)
  • Embellishments: Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape (#133000), Basic Rhinestones Jewel Accents (#119246), Silver Sparkle Dazzling Details (#127845), Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430), Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack (#129387), Essentials Wooden Elements (#132258)

And here are a few close-up pictures of my layout:

I used the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack to highlight the Essentials Wooden Elements, which I colored with my markers.

I also stamped on one of my Essentials Wooden Elements, using Staz-on, then added some color with my markers.  I also used the Staz-on ink to stamp on the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

I hope I've given you some new ideas for ways to use the items from the Occasions catalog.  Now, hop on over to Annie L. of  Love Me Cards.

Cheers!

Practical Scrapper: Layout Sketch

Hi!

Today I'm excited to share my layout using the sketch on Practical Scrappers.  I was even more excited to get to use my new toy, a Silhouette Cameo, on this page.  I have had it sitting here, in the box, since before Christmas, but I was good, and didn't open it until after the holidays.  The little robotic sounds crack me up.  Ok, it is the little things that amuse me these days.  ;-)

I love Carta Bella's Homemade with Love collection.  I think it works perfectly for this picture of the kids making my birthday cake with my mom.

Make sure to head over to the Practical Scrappers page and check out the other layouts made with the sketch...and link up your page there if you are inspired to use the sketch too.

Cheers!

New Year's Traditions

Welcome to 2014!

I hope everyone had a wonderful start to the new year.  We started our year off with our traditional Rose Parade viewing, cinnamon rolls, and marshmallows to throw at the screen and each other (very long story...).  I decided to take this opportunity to scrap this memory.  I want my kids to remember it as fondly as I do.  This layout was for both Simple Sketches, sketch 19, and The Paper Girls Challenge, Wishful Thinking challenge.

One of my goals this year is to try a new technique or product each week.  My new technique/products used on this page is my gelatos around the edge of the page.  I also added a little glaze on my page to add some dimension.  This was the first time I used these as well.  Woohoo, 1 week in, and I'm keeping my resolution.  ;-)

I look forward to sharing more with you this year.  I hope you will tell a friend or two.  ;-)

Cheers!
Kristy
